A Godly Mother

The Bible asks who can find an excellent woman?
And the Lord replies, “I have found her in you,
I’ve found her in the mother scrubbing the pan,
In the woman whose heart has been cut through.
I see her in the tears of joy that fill her eyes,
As she watches her child draw closer to Me in life.
I hear her speak in the lullabies she coos through sunrise,
And the way she helps another through their pain and strife.”

What makes a woman a mother, is it the child she bears,
Or the child she encourages and nurtures and trains?
In truth, a mother is determined in the way she cares,
The way she loves and embraces and faithfully remains,
Even when the storms come, the rains fall and darkness appears,
A woman who loves the child through it all is called mom.
A godly mother can stay at home or have her careers,
And bring the chaos and pain and disorder to a place of calm.

Wisdom is her cloak and discipline is her staff carved with love,
Her instruction is from the Lord and her heart is steadfast in His Word.
A godly mother is full of prayer and discernment sent from above,
Forgiving the painful rejections and slights quickly when offense is stirred.
She cultivates a joyful environment and offers unconditional love,
She trusts in God in all things and has a spirit of contentment in life,
Allowing her to keep the faith and encourage dreams unheard of,
While equipping and empowering her child to overcome all strife.

She brings order to chaos and holds to what is right,
Willingly releasing her children to God and His plans for their lives.
Her love is more than words, it is action lived out in the dark and the light,
Encouraging her children to find their place in His kingdom, ensuring they thrive.
She carries more burdens than any other can possibly know,
The love is heavy when the child rebels and the winter is cold,
Yet she presses on in a love that is a never-ending flow,
Believing in the promises that God has given her to hold.

A godly mother is a place of life beginning and a place of departure,
She is a child of God, His precious daughter, a princess, a royal diadem in His hand,
Her worth is truly above all rubies and treasures as she invests in the future,
Holding close to her heart the children given to her by God as He had planned.
In truth, dear ladies, one cannot fully define a godly mother in words or rhymes,
To capture the precious treasure of beauty and wisdom and love that God designed,
It is presumptuous to think that I could ever fully express this in such limited time,
But I can assure you that in this place a godly mother is not difficult to find.
