Thoughts Regarding Dylan Thomas
This man, who wrote of aging strong
had little age to flame his song.
But went he strong in that good night
with poet's words still glowing bright.

The death of life looms o'er us all
'til time to meet The Master's call.
How we prepare for end of days
shows values that each heart displays.

A human man he fought the drink,
which aged his life and made it sink
Into the Sad 'gainst which he raged.
His late demise was by this staged.

The hope of some last better Day
can focus mind to Hope obey.
Let's help the loved ones in our world
to find their cause with flag unfurled.

Depression leads to drinking heart,
while drinking heart makes sadness start.
I wonder could a friend have shared
some love with Dylan showed he cared,
Or was the heart of Thomas sad
beyond the help of aught made glad?

It seems so sad that mind so rich
was cut down by Depression's ditch.
His poems bold of life's good stuff
for help, they were not yet enough.

But rage he did 'til that full end
though poisoned drink would have no mend.
We share his strength to fight the fight
until we go to that good night.

This villanelle lives life to full
that grave and blind would rage like bull
Let's anchor heart to something more,
like God's great Grace we'd thus implore.
