The Saga of Prosperous Snow Continues |
Saturday, December 23, 2017 "There are two great days in a person's life - the day we are born and the day we discover why." William Barclay The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise" prompt for DAY 1467 What are your favorite Christmas/ holiday goodies to eat? Birthday Cake I was born of December 24, so throughout my childhood every Christmas Eve I had a birthday cake. Sometimes my mother baked the cake, while other times Grandma Mary baked it. The cake was usually chocolate with either chocolate or vanilla frosting. We always had ice cream, usually chocolate, with the cake. Normally the cake was small enough for my family to finish it on Christmas Eve, but if any was left over I ate the rest of it on Christmas Day. I like either ordinary chocolate or a red velvet cake, if the cake does not have chocolate frosting I prefer butter frosting. The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for DAY 1864 Write a story or poem about your favorite nut. Walnuts and Pecans Walnuts and pecans were always two of the nuts my grandparents purchased around Christmas. There would be a bowl of nuts in the living room. When we watched the Christmas specials we could eat them, if we didn't eat too many. Grandma always allowed us to snack after supper, when we were watching television. I can remember eating walnuts or pecans while watching television or looking at the Christmas tree placed in front of the living room window. To this day, I cannot make up my mind whether my favorite nut is a walnut or a pecan. |
