The Sun Will Rise![]() “The sun will rise,” or so they say, to mark the start of a new day. Its warmth invites the flower’s bloom and fills the air with sweet perfume. We mark the passage of our life, partitioned by the sun’s bright knife, yet never question what we see, accepting what our eyes decree. I flip a switch – the light comes on illuminating, like the dawn, the area beneath its glow. Could that be us? How would we know? Oh sure, you claim we’ve seen the stars and measured what we think is ours but could it be just an illusion, our senses fooled by our confusion? Are we no more than just a speck, a random card within a deck of many possibilities, deluded by our “expertise?” I ponder this while I’m awake and though it makes my poor head ache I can’t help wonder is this real or just a reflection of how I feel. ![]() An entry for the October 28th round of "The Daily Poem" ![]() Prompt: Come up with a conspiracy theory about something that everyone knows is true. For example, everyone's pretty certain that chairs exist. This is your chance to try convince us that that's not, actually, the case. Good luck!
