Salvation: Shakespearean Sonnet
A flaming barge upon the sea set sail,
The Soul within no longer bound to Earth,
By faith was freed from life's concealing veil,
Through love received a new, a second birth.
Arising out of egos smoldering ashes,
Of superstitions' idle fancies purged,
Away from matter's heavy shackles dashes,
To where the wills of God and man are merged.
Detached from dogma's vain imaginings,
The Spirit free now soars in paradise,
Can see religion as enlightening,
And understand the Prophets' sacrifice.
Salvation doesn't mean the Soul can rest,
Achieving it becomes the Soul's first test.
Line Count: 14
Form: A Shakespearean or English Sonnet consists of 3 quatrains and a couple. The rhyme scheme is abab cdcd efef gg.
