Protecting the environment by Lisa Noe ![]() Coal Mines have been closed to protect the environment. Environmental regulations shut the doors to many mines. The land is laid waste due to the mining of the mountains. The water runs red beneath its bed, trees are laid bare. Air is filled with dust as it boils from the side of the cliffs. Wild life are killed by the poison runoff from the mines. Men the saddest loss, as many are dying of black lung. Many men will now lose their jobs, angering them. The economy of the mining towns will take a large loss. Men have held these jobs, some since high school. Older men are forced into retirement at an early age. Homes will be foreclosed, as many are displaced. Young people leave their homes, heading for other states. Restaurants, hotels, and stores, close their doors. Less funds donated to churches, hospices, and hospitals. Men the saddest loss, as many are dying of black lung. it'll take new bills, creating new training for laid off miners. Training in high tech and electronics for mountaineers. Politicians could offer business grants for workers. which would require more restaurants, hotels and such. The mountainous peoples could then replant, the forests. They can show they’re very smart and talented people. Men the saddest loss, as many are dying of black lung.
