Night Noises

Night noises and
shadows in the moonlight:
a knocking on my living room wall
indicates that my neighbor is home
and hasn't taken a fall.

No sirens
or gunshots tonight,
but the neighbors pit bull
is barking
at something only he can see.

After Sunset

Another solar day has ended
First stars in the night sky are
Twinkling guiding weary travelers home.
Eastern mountains a jagged teeth
Rising above the valley and city.

Seduced by the safety of darkness and
Unaware of the danger that lurks, the children of
Night come out of their dens.
Silence whispers a warning that
Each couple ignores as the walk
Through the dark streets that hide danger.
