An Orphan’s heart
By Lisa Noe
She was an orphan, all alone
She was afraid of everything
Her fears were real without a home
Left on a doorstep sight unseen
With no one to love her
Sent to an orphanage in town
Other children did not like her
Larger kids pushed her to the ground
She got a dog with long black fur
With no one to love her
As she grew, she learned many things
How to love only animals
She’d hug her favorite dog Lingh
Her hopes hanging on miracles
With no one to love her
She opened her heart to the strays
She loved them and she made them hers
She recalled all her youthful days
She was made fun of by neighbors
With no one to love her
A heart which was broken for years
By no one being there for her
It brought many frightening tears
Her whole youth was just a dark blur
With no one to love her.
