I tend to disagree. There are lots of places in the world that don't have the cold of winter. They have an occasional cold day and sometimes the nights get cold but they don't put up with the snow and stuff that we put up with.They don't miss it a bit. So I think Steinbeck is wrong on this one. Then i seriously doubt that he ever had to work out in the cold for long periods of time either. When you do that and you're wet from the snow and have your clothes turn into icicles, you learn to think otherwise and dread winter.
