January 2017 Poems and Poetic throughts
1

It's a dreary Thursday
In January
The weather matches my mood
Wind carrying dead leaves
And litter across the sidewalk
While clouds promising tears

2

A glacial wind blows
Whispering snow stories
Oklahoma memories

3

My thoughts are rambling
Unfocused scattered worries
I intone a prayer

4

Beautiful Tuesday
A day to write poetry
And learn a new form

5

It's halfway through January 2017
Without any resolutions
Because I every year I attempt and fail
So this year I'm trying something different.

It's halfway through January 2017
And I've placed the year in God's hands
I'm asking for assistance to finish
Editing, rewriting, composing
And increasing my financial viability.

It's halfway through January 2017,
I'm setting weekly goals
To accomplish the stuff
I need to accomplish
While attempting to spread my wings.

6

Eggs over easy
The smoke alarm goes off
Time for breakfast

7

A chilly morning
Left over from yesterday
Snow covered mountains

8

O Lord,
Help me to let go
Of yesterday's fears
And mistakes.

9

O Lord,
Help me to let go
To focus on your strength
And forgiveness.

10

Black and white T.V.
Watching Howdy Doody ,
Captain Kangaroo,
Micky Mouse.

11

On the last Sunday in January 2017,
I contemplate the events
Of the past week,
The past month,
And the past year.

On the last Sunday of January 2017,
I feel the fear reverberating
Through my neighborhood,
Through Las Vegas,
Through Nevada,
Through America,
And across the planet Earth.

On the last Sunday of January 2017,
I say a prayer of protection
For those who
Through no fault of their own
Are stranded
And facing an uncertain future.
