Song: The Greatest Love Of All Singer: Whitney Houston Composer: Michael Masser Lyrics: Linda Creek (written while she was recovering from cancer) Key Musicians: I was unable to find this out, although the original was written for the movie "The Greatest", depicting the life of Muhammad Ali. It stands to reason that when Whitney Houston decided to record the song, there was a slightly different arrangement and most likely an orchestra in the background. Personal Notations: I can't recall when I first heard the song. When you hear some songs it may take take a while to decide if you like them or not. This song, for me, was a hit the first time I heard it for a number of reasons. Whitney put so much into a song. With a voice like she had, the emotion of the song along with her beautiful voice really resonated with me. I like what the song has to say, I think the lyrics are great! We all have our time on earth and no one is exempt from leaving it behind one day. Our children truly are our future and we must do all that we can, while we are here, to teach them how to make good decisions and help lead our country to success some day. From time to time, in life, we come across someone who has an impact on our lives. These people, are heros to us and people who we may think of if we're having a bit of a hard time or just being nostalgic. It's sad to think of someone who has never found anyone to look up to in their lives. The song brings these people to mind, telling them that they need to find a way to love themselves, to depend on themselves, when everyone else fails them. If you believe in yourself, trust yourself, and your decisions, then you will never fail. In summary, the song tells us to believe in love; for that is the greatest thing of all. I think this is a very inspirational song, one that speaks to the heart and will stand the test of time. I believe it could be classified as nostalgic.
