Bits and pieces of prose and poetry entered in contests for the I Write contests. |
The sun spills warmly into the day, warming the chilled air I find myself drawn to the trails That wind down into the valley Where the foliage has burst forth With its gay festival attire. I pull air into my lungs and smile, As the autumn scents - musky and freshly organic surround me and lift my spirits. I cannot help feel freer here Where the world is changing From its summer garb, into fall fashion - a dazzling display A last hurrah, before the winds pick up And strip the summer's bounty from each branch Letting the darkness fold in As winter moves onto the stage And with it, a period of dormancy. A chance to recharge and plan for a new season to come. I too, am ready for a quieter life A time to put away such loveliness And sit with my thoughts Recharging and getting ready For the next bountiful season. 22 lines.
