My work for my team, House Martell |
I listened to the rain come down, Sweat breaks out upon my wrinkled brow, Streaks of lightning flash across the sky, I frown, As I glance at the clock, it’s the eleventh hour! Thunder cracked, it sounded like the heavens might split apart, I dived under the table, chin on knees, shaking like a leaf, Eyes wide as hail pummels the windows, my beating heart, Thumps against my chest as the storm raged on, hoping for relief. Lightning cracked nearby, I duck, squealing in terror, Deafening thunder shook the house, my whole body quaked, While thunder chased lightning, I fold my hands in prayer, Storm began to quiet, I moan as my stiff muscles unbend, I ache! Crawling on my belly from under the table, I stand, Stumbled over to the coffeepot, hand on back, I grab, A cup, pour some coffee, and drink with a shaking hand, Sit back, sip some more coffee, and hug my cat, Tabby. 16 lines |
