The Book Sniffer
This story isn't one that I think was repeated much other than in my own mind. It is the most distinct memory that I have.
My mother was an avid reader and writer. Every week she would scoope me up and take off to the library. We lived about a mile away and the only way for her to get there—was walk. To her it was well worth the effort. I was lucky, I got to ride in the stroller. What I remember the most about entering the library was the smell! Oh the books smelled so good! I also remember that when she was done, I got to hold the books and sniff them all the way home. BUT what is really funny about this story is...to this day I can not check out or buy a book without sniffing it first. It all began with a stroller ride.
