WALKING AROUND IN WOMEN'S UNDERWEAR
PROMPT: Music Monday! Holiday music, Christmas music is in full swing all over the place. Does it ever get tiring? Could you listen to it all year long, or are you glad when it's over?
I suppose I'm lucky in that I'm not out and about everyday to hear these familiar carols ad nauseum. Actually, I'm not in the habit of listening to a radio non-stop at home either. Only when I'm driving my vehicle do I indulge myself with radio tunes and chatter, so I've not heard one Christmas song this season. As far as I've noticed, perhaps oblivious as I am, the local radio station is not yet playing anything Christmas-y.
If I was employed in a venue that piped in constant carols, I'd probably invest in a pair of ear plugs. I cannot imagine toiling away in retail amongst holiday glitter and enduring whiny, inconsiderate, and rude shoppers; all whilst 'upbeat', 'happy' songs continuously cackle. Would this not be the perfect interrogation technique? Okay, okay, I'll confess everything, anything. Just please stop that damn music! No, I'm not listening to any more sleigh bells! I know you saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus; enough already. I slog through a friggin' Winter Wonderland every day, and sure, somethin' nips at my nose.
When I do happen to hear the familiar notes of a Christmas carol, I often sing along. Years of programming have conditioned me. I like to hear the different parodies. They're good for a laugh.
Here are but a few such Christmas carol knock-offs: I'LL BE CLONED FOR CHRISTMAS, ( Yep, sung to tune of I'll Be Home For Christmas):
         I'll be cloned for Christmas,
         There'll be three of me;
One to work, and one to shop,
         And one just for parties.
This song is WEB ADDICTION, ( based on Winter Wonderland):
All night long, I sit clicking,
          Unaware time is ticking,
There's beard on my cheek, Same clothes for a week,
         Happily addicted to the Web!
This is another parody of Winter Wonderland as rewritten by Bob River; WALKING AROUND IN WOMEN'S UNDERWEAR:
Lacey things, the wife is missing.
          Didn't ask for her permission
I'm wearing her clothes, her silk panty hose.
          Walking around in women's underwear.
This is a Canadian parody of The 12 Days of Christmas. Two 'brothers', Bob and Doug McKenzie, created for a SCTV sketch titled Great White North, 'sing' the following as they drink beer.....
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me.... a beer. The verses meander through many days as follows: Day 2- 2 turtlenecks, Day 3- 3 French toast, Day4- 4 pounds of back bacon, Day 5- 5 golden toques, Day 6- six packs of two-four, ( translation: six cases of beer, each case has 24 beers), Day 7- 7 packs of smokes, Day 8- 8 comic books......and then the brothers run out of steam because of the drinking, although they do consider one dozen doughnuts as being suitable for day 12.
For years, when my offspring were still kids, it was a custom to view the animated Christmas specials. I still find myself singing, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch", "Frosty the Snowman", and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". It's not officially Christmas until I hear them at least once.
