One Of Many Battles
By Lisa Noe
Freedom, it is not free,
It is paid for with the most
Precious commodity of all,
Blood!
I honor all those who have served
Man, woman, and child…
Even the little one follows a parent
From town to town, coast to coast
The littlest being understands what
Is meant by freedom isn’t free
There is a heavy toll on the family
Of a veteran always moving schools
It is a heavy load for young shoulders
A single person goes off to war
But left behind to worry with mental torment
Is the family who loves the soldier
Sometimes the mental terror of thinking
You’ll never see a loved one again is so
Great you think you can’t carry the load
Relationships suffer, but many are spared
And even made stronger for the military
Family is a courageous unit.
There is a heavy price for freedom
And many forget to thank the quiet family.
