bone. I witnessed this performance.
I cautioned , my buddy, Ed not to attempt this jump.
Nevertheless, he did it.

In the Middle East today, there are fanatics, who believe
they are on a mission from God. The Rev. Martin Luther
wrote in his diary, "There is no rustic so rude that he does
not believe he can hear the whisper of the Holy Spirit and
is a prophet." How can a rational man persuade an irrational
man? Religious faith can do great good and Evil.

My dad was a conservative Roman Catholic Democrat.
He believed that Jesus is God and that the Roman Catholic Church
is God's church and the Pope speaks for God. I was skeptical.
I like to question. In the fifth grade of my education my teacher
Miss Sheridan introduced me to Charles Darwin's assent of man.
The alternative was the spontaneous creation of Adam and Eve.
Darwin's theory seemed more reasonable.

I confronted my dad with the knowledge of Darwin's theory of
Evolution and Adaption. Dad was not impressed.
"Nothing is impossible for God." he said and added that God could
have created Evolution... I asked dad if science was antireligious.
He said that science can only observe causes and effects.
Okay, I was not making any points with dad.

However, my point is that the Republican Presidential debate
is circling over the issue of Christianity and politics.
If it were possible for me to reason with the Republican mindset,
I would say the Gospels are a mythic story told for parables ..
The people in those times did not know Charles Darwin or the separation
of church and state. They practiced slavery and worshiped a Jewish
King ; a Messiah. They were racist and not democratic.
But, the Republican base wont listen to me and they will loose.
And that will be the end of the Republican Christian politics.
