Wisdom for youth
My dream say my pastoral mentor at a very young age with black hair and looking dressed up with a black polka dot tie and black suit. He is standoffish. I want from him what he is unable to give me at this particular time. I am puzzled. Where is the person I knew as my mentor.
Times sure do change. Dick is well into his 80's and going strong teaching pastoral care at a local seminary. He is always there for me. At times I think I take him for granted. I have known him for around 25 years and he has been a good friend and mentor. When I saw him as young, I realize it was at a time long before I knew he existed. I am thankful our paths have crossed and we chose to learn from each other what it means to be caring. I still have my doubts about whether I fail, since I lost my pastoral niche that I was living and dying for. Dick reminds me that in all times of a persons spiritual journey we can rejoice. I may have regrets about things that happened. I do not regret Dick's decision to be in my life.
