Benzaiten's Artistry

Benzaiten's Artistry

Ripples shape sand art--
displacement delineates
design, whether by
manta ray tail as paint brush,
moon-swell tide, or scrape of shell,

always evolving--
composition is in flux,
with endless patterns
weather pushed or wind enhanced:
nothing is ingrained in stone.

Prompt for: June 11, 2014
Subject or Theme: Water scapes (any type)
Word(s) to Include:
(none)
Forbidden Word(s):
lake, ocean, pond, river, sea, water, wave (or any derivatives of these words)
Additional Parameters: haiku, senryu or tanka (you may write up to three linked but are only required to write one) Remember, do not use forbidden words ANYWHERE, including title.

The Japanese tanka is a thirty-one-syllable poem, traditionally written in a single unbroken line. A form of waka, Japanese song or verse, tanka translates as "short song," and is better known in its five-line, 5/7/5/7/7 syllable count form.

Benzaiten is the Japanese goddess of everything that flows: water, words, speech, eloquence, music and by extension, knowledge.
