Prompt for 10 June, 2014 Theme: Inside the ... (any non-living thing). Tell me what happens inside those things. Words to use: magic, junkyard. Words to avoid: none. Additional Parameters: None Junkyard playground let my imagination twist sticky-fingered jams of odd pieces, broken objects, discarded trash and trinkets into far flung worlds where splintered door morphed to alien spaceship and wringer machine, dead brooms, mirror shards and razor sharp corrugated metal gave birth to the king of dragons. Then, one rainy day I slipped on a cabbage leaf and fell down a rabbit hole. Inside leather, vellum leaves, pages, ink-- a plethora of words existed: the inner, intricate workings of a mind ... and that mind transported me. I delved, dove, descended deeper inside to places I’d never known could exist before. Better than mere magic, I breathed in, no, inhaled the inner workings: and found within … anything was possible. New playgrounds opened to me. Even though some pages had been stuck together, ink aged to transparency on others, and to my dismay, the entire last chapter ripped away, that's when the magic became real. The junque scattered in the cob-webbed nooks of my mind, the odd phrases lying about to trip the unwary thought, the disconnected flotsam and jetsam of a sea of possibilities became the bits and pieces of new worlds, worlds that I controlled or (that controlled me) inside the pages of what would, one day, become a book. |
