Dazzling

feral child

the child in the forest has mossy brown hair,
she runs almost bare, a green apron of leaves
flaps from her hips; she has blue plastic artefacts
strung to her limbs, magic blue plastic, for luck;

the feral child can speak to the birds,
she conducts the insects, is warned by rain;
wild child in the forest eats berries and mushrooms,
moss on her cheeks and twigs in her hair.
