PROMPT: Who is your evil twin? Write about the mischievous deeds that he/she has done today. My evil twin was a little subdued today; it was a busy day at work and - while he is certainly evil beyond a shadow of a doubt - even my twin understands when work needs to be done and leaves me alone to focus. That said, he's never deterred from suggesting all kinds of mischief to get into and today was certainly no exception. In no particular order, my evil twin suggested that I: Skip going to work. Leave work early. Switch my breakfast from healthy juice to less healthy doughnuts. Buy way too much other stuff on Amazon when I only started out wanting one thing. Book a getaway trip that I really can't afford right now. It was kind of a day of mundane evil for my twin today; normally he comes up with some really bizarre suggestions, like pitting the interns against one another and pretending like the one of them that finishes their task last will get fired... or setting the background on my coworker's computer to something entirely inappropriate (and hilarious). But sadly, perhaps my evil twin got as little sleep as I did last night and instead phoned in his evil hijinks and manipulations today. -------------------------------------------------- PROMPT: Write about a television show that, love it or hate it, went (or is currently going) on for way too long. Honestly, how is this show still on? I mean, obviously it's got the ratings to merit keeping it on the schedule, but I'm floored that a non-soap opera show which started airing in 1989 is still on the air. I've gone through phases in my life where I would watch it for several seasons, not watch for a few seasons, watch for several more seasons, then not watch for a while... and it's still on! All of this is not to say that I think THE SIMPSON is a bad show; I think it's quite brilliant. I just think that it's lost a lot of its novelty over the years. Perhaps that's because I'm always looking for something new and exciting, but I think twenty-six seasons later, it's run its course. Although I'm currently in a several-year lull (haven't watched it in probably a decade), so who knows? It could be in the middle of a renaissance right now. The show does have a remarkable ability to bounce back and come up with some really smart material every now and then. |
