January Blog Poems
1
I have a new five-cup coffeemaker

fresh cup of coffee
everyday without fail
and no leftovers

2
Something About Mondays

There's something about Mondays
that make writing difficult,
but not impossible.

3
Weariness, Worry, and Writer's block

I'm less worried today
and not as tired,
was weariness
and worry the cause
of writer's block.

4
A Good Day to Write and Pray

It's a good day to write,
it's a good day to pray,
it's a good day to worship God
in any way.

It's a good day to write
about the beauty of morning
and to worship God
through the written word.

5
A Lost Writing Day

a lost writing day
very little accomplished
I could kick myself

a lost writing day
throws off the rest of the week
throws off my housework

6
It's Friday

It's Friday,
I'm still catching up from Wednesday
inactivity and nothing accomplished day.

It's Friday,
the only thing I want to do
is stand outside in the sun.

It's Friday,
I'm distracted
I can't concentrate
on the things I have to do.

7
Moving Forward

one day at a time
I move forward but look back
I need to focus

one day at a time
I move into tomorrow
yesterday is past

one day at a time
I move into the unknown
a new adventure

8
Saturday Blahs

It isn't the Monday blues
that has me sad,
but the Saturday blahs

If I were sleepy
a little nap would help
refresh and energize,
but I'm not sleepy...
I have the blahs.

9
Sunday Morning Senryu

Stand in the sunshine
feel the rays of God's beauty
penetrate your soul.

10
The Feast of Sovereignty

Feast of Sovereignty
a good start to a new week
and to a new month.

The Feast of Sulṭán
a new nineteen days began
a joyful new month.

11
Writing Before Coffee

I'm writing this
before brewing a fresh carafe,
before taking a sip from my first
cup of coffee.

12
Meditation on A New Solar Day

The sun has sit
behind the western peaks
and a new solar day
has begun.

The nigh pass slowly,
I wonder what morning
will bring.

The sun has sit,
dawn is several hours away
as I inhale the air
of a new solar day.

13
Writing with Coffee

A hot cup of coffee
awakens my muse
and encourages
my winter cold fingers
to type.

Writing with coffee;
feeling the hot liquid
warming my mouth
and flowing down my throat...
Life is good!

14
Not Enough Time in The Day

There's not enough time in a day
to write everything I want to say
or do everything I want to do.

There's not enough time in a day,
so why do I wail it away
playing wasting time games.

15
Writing After Coffee

Writing after coffee
my muse is awake and working
her little wings off;
perhaps I should switch to black tea:
I wonder how it tastes with chocolate?

15
Writing on a Cloudy Afternoon in January

The clouds have rolled in again,
hiding the morning's
beautiful blue sky.

Is it God's will
this delay in moving
or is there something
I still have to do here?

Looking forward
to a new Las Vegas address
and meeting new neighbors.

16
Time Stands Still

Time stands still
movement is thwarted
I feel
as if I am floating
in limbo.

17
Friday Rain

charcoal gray rainclouds
angels escort each each raindrop
blessing the desert
