Waking with a grateful attitude

Waking up with a grateful attitude... Seems like the older I get the harder it is to deal with mornings. I remember an occasion 30 some years ago when my wife Cheryl and I were down in Las Cruses, NM for a funeral and the only place we could stay was with her grandmother "Big Mama" who was in her 80's, crippled to the point she could hardly walk and legally blind. We spent the night on her fold-out couch in the living room. At about 5 AM I was shocked awake by a resounding "Praise the Lord!" from Big Mama's bedroom. She came into the living room on her knees because she couldn't walk without pulling herself up on a piece of furniture. Her joy at God's giving her another day has stuck with me all these years and helped me have the gumption to get out of bed many many times. I'm still working on having the same attitude.
