Ode to Joy
The Thursday, November 7, 2013 prompt for "Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt ForumOpen in new Window. is
Do you listen to music when you write? What kind do you prefer? What would happen to your writing if you switched it up, tell us about it?
If you don't tell us why?

Normally I don't listen to music when I write, but this morning I decided to make an exception. I'm listening to Ode to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven. I have the volume control up as loud as possible because I also have the washing machine running. Usually the only noise in the house is the washer or the dryer. I don't have the television on because the talking is too distracting. However, the singing on the recording of b}Ode to Joy isn't distracting. This morning, I find the music and vocals relaxing. It could be that, after returning from the bank and grocery shopping, the music and vocals are relaxing because I'm tired

I chose b}Ode to Joy because it was mention at my grief counseling meeting last night. I can't remember why it was mentioned because we were discussing the pot luck for the meeting on November 20. I wrote the title down because I thought it would be a good title for a poem. When I returned home, and after I finished my NaNoWriMo goal, I decided to search the intent for the title. I didn't remember it was a piece by Beethoven or I didn't consciously remember it was Symphony No. 9.

I'll have to listen to music more often while I'm writing. I know that YouTube must have more recording of classical music. At this point, I think I prefer to listen to classical music when I write, but since I haven't listened to jazz or ambient music while writing I can't be sure just yet. I'll have to log into Songza.com and check my play list to see what music I have there to listen to while I write. Listening to music while writing is a completely new experience because when I was a teenager I didn't listen to music while I studied or read.
