The September 25, 2013 prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" is What is the weirdest place/time where you've found inspiration to write? My life is weird (which sounds like a good theme for October's Unofficial Blog Challenge) and I expect my life to get even weirder over the next two months. My life has been weird since I took Mom to the hospital Emergency Room in 2007 (Mom had an intestinal blockage). Since then my life has gotten weirder and weirder, while events have progressed from the amusing to the bazaar and back again several times. Weird has become such a common occurrence in my life that it now appears ordinary. All right, perhaps I am exaggerating on just how weird my life has became and will become in the next two months. Weird is a matter of perspective, an individual point of view. What is the weirdest place and/or time where I have found the inspiration to write? The most recent was yesterday when I was cleaning out closets. I was removing clothes (some of which I have not worn since 2007) from my closet and putting them in trash bags to give away. After moving from my bedroom into the third bedroom, I realized that I had too many clothes. I used the title "Too Many Clothes" for a blog entry.1 Outside the walls of weird others see your life as normal. Since I am "Living Inside the Walls of Weird" everywhere and when I receive inspiration to write can be considered weird. I receive inspiration taking a shower or going to the toilet. I receive inspiration while driving west on Sahara Avenue or east on Charleston Avenue. For me, getting stuck in traffic is an inspiring experience. I got the idea for the working title of this year's NaNo novel while reviewing a short story. The weird thing is that the short story had nothing to do with the title or the theme/subject of my upcoming novel. The name just popped into my mind while I was reading and remained there after I finished the review. Here are the reasons my life will be getting weirder in October and November. First, I am in the process of cleaning out the house and getting ready to move into a studio apartment or assisted living facility. Second, I am participating in "October Novel Prep Challenge" . Third, I am participating in "Invalid Item" . Then in November I am writing Sunset in Suburbia a novel based on my experience as my mother's caregiver. Footnotes |
