Change the world

She smiled that knowing smile.

—You waste your words. Flap those lips and all they hear is buzzing.
Choose them well. Make each syllable become the sound of moving water
moving earth and sky. Move the world with melodies of healing.
Invite others to join in harmony. Discard the words that do not matter,
never mattered, never will. If you must, exercise your lips at home
and fill the air with noise only heard by you and God. Each thought
has weight, no need to bludgeon. Choose light and life. Pluck the best
from Creation's ether and write them down in verse. Change the world
by adding beauty with one poem at a time.

And then I understood: fewer words may someday make me wise.
