Hard work...
Today, I'm writing on a prompt from the "Invalid Item.

“A word is not the same with one writer as with another. One tears it from his guts. The other pulls it out of his overcoat pocket.” ~Charles Peguy

To me, this speaks to the flow of my story from inspiration to words on the screen. Some stories just seem easy to tell and pour out faster than my fingers can type. Others, usually deeply emotional ones or ones that I am afraid to share, have to be pulled from the root like a tooth with pliers.

The easy ones I am instantly happy with. To me, they hardly need any editing, just grammar and punctuation.

The hard ones take forever to find the right words to convey what I am trying to say. Even when they are finished, they never seem exactly right. Sometimes, they get completely deleted.

There is a little voice, though, in my head that hints to me that the hard ones may be worth the effort. Usually, I keep coming back to them, trying to find the right words to convey my message, but it is (as George Bush said) hard work. I laughed at that everytime he said it. Now, sometimes, it is not so funny.

until next time....c
