The Cruellest Month

A Kitten Tale

The bloody kitten
has broken
into the pantry,
busted out the biscuits,
raped the garbage bin,
strewn tea leaves and
chicken bones,
shat in the bathtub,
dragged her daggy butt
across the carpet,
peed on the floor,
hacked up a trichobezoar,
left fur on my blacks,
clawed the upholstery,
knocked over the cactus
and delivered a lizard
with strident screaming.

Now she is cute,
winding in circles
and tamping my breasts,
purring, and ready for love.
