Not for the faint of art. |
As part of my ongoing effort to see more live music, on Sunday I went to see Brandi Carlile live. I was with Artemismad Scientist . What can I say about Brandi? I've been listening to her for a few years now, having first heard her played on WFUV out of NYC. http://www.wfuv.org/audio/stream.html Which has been responsible for most of the newer music I listen to (notable exception: Gogol Bordello, who came to my attention via a bellydancer). I don't usually get crushes on singers, but Brandi's a total babe. I do not, however, recommend listening to her music while drunk. The alcohol tends to enhance the effects. I wasn't drunk at the concert - I'm not That Guy - but I've been known to play "The Story" CD on endless repeat while drinking. Anyway... One great thing that came from that concert was my introduction to the opening artist. Normally, I'm disappointed by opening artists, like most people. They tend to be disappointing because they never seem to be as good as the title act. But in this case... well, I'll let you see for yourself. I can only embed one video per blog entry, but just follow this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsQ6vy9PB08 Can I be in love with two chick singers at the same time? Okay, three if you count Dar Williams. Four if you count Brandiwynš¶ . I say yes, sure, why not? |
