Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

Blah, blah, off to Costa Rica soon... again.
"Some days I annoy like a mosquito. Most days I focus like a gnat. Today I'm just wandering around out there somewhere. Swat." KE

Watt's Gnus:

Not really much to report. Costa Rica lost to Mexico 0-3 yesterday in a qualifier for the World Cup. Both Kansas and Montana won over out-matched teams from Colorado. U Wash lost to LSU. Other than sports? Not much to report.

ME?

Damp. I think I ate too late then drank coffee late, so I didn't sleep well. Today is . . . slow.

*Reading*

Read some from Michael Moore's book printed in 2003, Dude, Where's my Country?. Interesting points. He was right about the country being ripe for a woman or Afro-American for president. And his comments about the fearful minority were good too. Some of the other points can be left for history to decide. I only skimmed it.

I haven't been reading much.

Travel:

I leave on the 19th for Costa Rica and return on October 7th. This trip is to scout out areas to live in for longer periods of time (like choose a place and stay a month). So... it could prove to be hectic and a tad more expensive than desirable.

Areas I hope to visit:

1. Los Santos, highlands (San Jose-Cartago)
2. Zarcero-Grecia-Sarchi-Naranjo-San Ramon, highlands (Alajuela)
3. Nicoya-Santa Cruz, dry-forest lowlands (Guanacaste)
4. Turialba or Orosi, highlands (Cartago)
5. Parismina or Talamanca, beaches (Limón)
6. Coto Brus, highlands (Puntarenas)

Only have 16 days, so not much can be accomplished (Only #4 was visited in July). Need to remember to buy a new camera before then. Also need to decide whether I take my travel laptop.

Writing

Me, write? Not much this past week. Writing ebbs and flows. When the gates open it can flood. *Rolleyes*

Images:

Vine maples turning purple then red-orange. Drips from the firs after the rain has stopped. Chickens going after the weeds I gave them. Pond lilies... not in bloom. Black asphalt glistening. Blackberries full and sweet. Damp. Damp. Damp!

Blogville

sandiegoabuelo recently lost his wife of 37 years to cancer and asks for help in "Invalid Entry.

We have many writers here at WdC who are ill or dealing with loss of a loved one. IRL do any of us have proper support? Since many of us live in a society of estrangement, one cannot assume that the answer is yes. Folks write here what they cannot and/or dare not share with others. Who among us can comfort the bereaved?
