Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills. |
I just came from a wonderful performance of Koritsia from Lund, Sweden. They opened with a yoik http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoik then sang more traditional songs. They then sent two out into the back of the theatre, two at the front sides, the others front and middle and sang what I swear was a kulning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kulning The high pitches and volume were stunning. They proceeded with three of Shakespeare's sonnets set to music. They ended with a "curse" of hisses and laughter and... well, it was unexpected and riveting. Karin Fagius must work very hard with these 16-20 year old women to get out of them what she does. I even liked the way they sang themselves off stage. ![]() An article with picture: http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2009/07/17/news/mtregional/news06.txt I can now tell AL ![]() Above Nevada Roads wiggle through this sand parched land, dried nematodes connecting emptiness. Across the vastness of the West, I soar: touching clouds, craving salt, a fossil begging rest. © Kåre Enga [166.138] 2009.07.16 Montana: 79°, calm and sunny. Gonna be a warm one!
