Willa forms plans to defeat evil Barridean's kingdom but things don't turn out as expected |
Fay Warrior, Fay Master Chapter Eleven Merina quickly made her way through the forest and had just flown to the outskirts when a hand grabbed her yanking her back. She cried out with a start when she turned to see that Marrabus detained her. Relief washed over her face. “Oh, Marrabus, you frightened me. I did not expect you.” The prince lifted a brow. “And what did you expect to frighten you so, then?” His eyes narrowed watching her closely. Of late, he had noticed her frequent disappearances and had tried to cover for her when summoned by the king. Did she not think that his brother would not miss his own chamber maid? “I…nothing in particular…just that you frightened me…that is all,” she hedged trying to pull her wrist out of his hand. His grip tightened. “I have noticed your frequent disappearances of late. Just where have you been getting off to?” “Nowhere in particular. Sometimes I just need to get away from your brother’s presence. He can be quite overbearing at times.” Marrabus did not believe her explanation. He knew her well enough by now to know that she lied to him. So what had she been up to? Or perhaps he should ask himself…with whom had she been sneaking off to see? This irritated him greatly that he should think such a thing. He did not feel that their frequent coupling warranted anything more than a pleasurable time. Perhaps he had been mistaken in his thoughts. He relaxed his hold on her just a bit. “And is that all? You just needed some time away from The Beast as some would call him?” Merina smiled up into his face as she moved closer to him. “Of course it is. You of all Fays should know this.” Something foreign and strange filled him as he gazed down into her veiled, luminous eyes, beautiful emerald green like her wings. Suddenly, he drew his dagger and pressed her hard against the tree holding the blade near her throat. What was this sudden rage that filled him?! “M…M…Marrabus, what are you doing?” she gasped with fearful surprise. “You are lying to me, Merina. Your eyes tell me differently than your lovely lips. Who have you been sneaking out to see?” “I do not belong to you,” she hissed angrily even while the blade touched her skin. “We only couple…we are not joined!” “Then you have been seeing another?” he asked through clenched teeth. He pressed in on her not realizing the strength of his anger. A small drop of blood fell upon his hand and he cursed throwing the blade down. It was but a tiny nick but enough to calm his boiling rage to just seething. Merina raised her hand to her neck then glanced down to see the few drops upon her own fingers. Her eyes flew up to meet his accusingly. “You tried to harm me! How dare you treat me in such a manner! I will tell him…” Instantly, she clamped her mouth shut as her eyes widened. Marrabus grabbed her tighter forcing her to complete stillness against the trunk. “Him?! Him who? Who have you been seeing?!” “It is not what you think!” she cried out as she wiggled to find freedom. Oh…why had she not kept her mouth shut? If not careful, she would reveal all of what she knew. “And, I might remind you, it is none of your affair! I do not belong to you!” “It is my affair so enlighten me to the truth,” he commanded just inches from her luscious lips. But before she could utter another word, he quickly claimed her mouth with his own. Jealousy consumed him like it never had before. Merina belonged to him and no other. His hands moved quickly to feel of her covered flesh while he attempted to remove her filmy garments. His heart pounded hard as he tasted her lips, face, and throat while his hands felt freely along her body seeking entry beneath her gown. Merina moaned with want as her fingers explored his toughened body. The fire burned deep in her core and she found it difficult to concentrate on her intended tasks. She could not while her heart felt like it would burst from her chest. But she must. She must continue on. Marrabus was too close to the truth…a threat to the tenuous connection she had painstakingly built for the old crone’s sake as well as the kingdoms’ futures. She could not allow her love to cloud her mind. Suddenly, she used all her weight as she forced him away from her and simultaneously flipped out of his hold then flitted into the air in escape. Granted, the move surprised the seasoned Fay Warrior but only momentarily. Her quick action had just proven her obvious guilt of other couplings. And as a proud warrior, he would allow no other to usurp him from his conquests. His ears flattened and eyes narrowed with anger as he heatedly burst into the air after her. Merina desperately fled but Marrabus flew in hot pursuit. Quickly, she zipped chaotically through bushes and branches heavily laden with leaves to shake her pursuer but her sensitive ears could hear the swiftness of his flight. How far was Fayring Valley?! She must reach the borders soon! “Merina!” he called out as he neared. “You cannot escape me! And when I catch you, you will be punished!” Suddenly, Merina realized that Marrabus intended her harm. Her heart nearly ripped in half as it fell to her stomach. She had thought he loved her. As she flew deeper in, in desperation she called out, “Eldwin, Eldwin, help me or all will be lost! Eldwin, Eldwin!” Quicker and quicker she darted frantic with effort knowing she would be caught for Marrabus gained on her. But where was her rescuer?! By the Elderians, Eldwin must save her for not only did terror fill her but also unfathomable despair! Marrabus slowed his pace with surprise. She had called out to Eldwin, Captain of the Fayring Valley kingdom’s guard! What treachery had he uncovered? His brow crinkled in thought yet he kept her within view careful not to lose sight of his woman. He determined to follow but unseen for he must discover why his Merina coupled with the enemy. And when he finally did catch her, the punishment would be most delicious and satisfying for them both. Why had she been so terrified of him? It did not make sense. But he would think on that later for now he must uncover what his naughty woman had gotten mixed up in. Was she only coupling with the Fayring Fay Warrior or had he happened upon a conspiracy? The Fayring Royal family had an appalling reputation so perhaps Merina had been unwittingly lured. She must have been lured for she had not even a sliver of deviousness within her. If anything, at times she could be almost vexingly naïve. Regardless, he followed intent on his purpose. Merina continued to zip hastily through the valley until she reached her destination of the Fayring courtyard. Marrabus remained hidden as he watched the warriors allow her in without question. She whispered something to one of the guards who immediately flew into the palace and only moments later Eldwin emerged. Marrabus could not make out what they discussed but noted the obvious affection between the two. He watched as they moved into a private alcove. He scowled angrily. Did Merina not understand the evilness of these Fays? What had occurred to compromise her so? What terrible thing had they over her head to cause her to turn on his brother’s kingdom? True, his brother proved an unfit king but Queen Keltra and her bloodline had proven far more treacherous in their dealings. Though he knew the danger, he decided to remain hidden hoping to discover some truths. Perhaps an opportunity would arise to provide him with some answers. McKinzie S.
