Welcome Back
Why did I make the title of the first entry "Welcome back", you ask? Well, it's more of a "welcome back" to myself. I removed myself from writing for the last four years. I didn't mean to, honest. Don't tell on me! Life just gets busy and I got a little discouraged.

But last week it hit me--my mind needed a creative outlet. I went through a funk over the winter and basically cleaned out things that were wasting my time. One of those things was my gaming group. We used to meet every week to play board games, strategy games, etc. but it was getting consistently more difficult to actually get just three of the four of us together. I spent more time trying to set up a game night than actually playing games. So I decided that was it.

There were other difficulties going on but they were just more feeling out of place and not a part of anything important.

Without the gaming, no matter how infrequently it happened, I lacked any way to be creative. I started feeling like a robot.

So last week I simply started writing. I didn't have any real idea what I would write until I was already a couple of paragraphs into the story "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window.. I got caught up in it and finished it in one sitting. I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Having done this, I am craving more. I feel like a word junkie (or junky?) who needs another fix. I seem to be a bit short on plots and ideas but my urge is overflowing. Hopefully I can get this portfolio a little more populated soon.

Of course, I'm always looking for good reads and if there is anyone out there who would like to offer me material for review, I may be able to squeeze it in. :)
