How far can you take a good friend?
I have not figured how to get out of this blogging part but will try soon. So....here's the topic.
I have been working and praying endlessly for my little friend Pumpkin. He is my darling cat who was born in my closet in 1994. He has cancer and has gone through surgery and his first chemotherapy. In other words, he has gone through hell. I have talked to some experts at a very expensive clinic and also a veterinarian who is very good at homeopathic therapy. I have also asked an animal communicator to give me any idea on how he feels. This was positive.
However I have tried to give Pumpkin a very good chance to get better and perhaps have a few months of quality life. I do hope and pray that we can share those months only with good times and the quality that I am aiming for. He has been a fighter and a good one. I just hope that the hell that he has gone through is one that we both can live with.
I wonder what would I have felt or thought if I would have pulled the plug on him at the beginning of this part of his life when everyone was telling me that he would not make it? I would not have the here and now to compare it with. Indeed he is responding like a human who is going through chemotherapy. The clinic in which he is being given care is making a fortune $$$$$. He is worth any money but sometimes I think that I am not getting what I am paying for. Ex: the doctor is out today, Friday, and will not be back until Monday. The technicians do not know how to answer the question about how much to push with the food issue. I do not want him to undereat and I do not want to inhibit his effort to regain his cat-ness in eating on his own. I feel that someone should have been able to answer my question. So I ask who I can and just keep notes to see if I can make a good decision on my own. I hope that I do right for him.
So this blog is to update my trials and tribulations with Pumpkin. My advice for anyone who is trying to save an animal who they love from a disease that will probably be fatal is to follow their heart. If they truely know their animal and have a big pocketbook then think carefully. Animals have feelings and only the owner can make that decision. Good luck.
