Prologue
Night fell and Jess decided she would try to get some sleep but she just laid there under the covers tossing and turning as if she couldn’t get comfortable. Once again she was suffering insomnia.

Ever since she could remember, it had been a problem. She remembered that in high school she suffered insomnia and had odd dreams.

Really it was only one dream that felt like a past memory, something from the present and something of the future. It excited her in every way possible and even in ways unimaginable. This dream was always exactly the same in content. It never changed. The only thing that changed was the feeling of it, in the sense of it being past, present or future. Every time she had this dream she would always feel differently about it, herself and her life but there was one thing above all that was a constant and that was the feel of him.

She could feel him mentally, emotionally and even physically, as  though he had been there with her. Sometimes her skin prickled in a certain area and she felt a hand upon her. But never did she have a feeling of being freaked out, as most people would, only a sense of comfort and familiarity as though she knew who touched her and a feeling peace suddenly came over her. She felt it rooted deep within her, touching places she had no words for.

The dreams subsided and for twenty years she heard not one peep nor had even the slightest suggestion of reoccurrence. But the insomnia had returned…

Still, the dreams plagued her. Now worse than before because they occurred during her waking hours.

She got out of bed and went down to the den, turned on the TV.,  flipped until she found an old movie and watched that for a bit… then changed channels again. She flipped channels for a little while then found a modern romantic love story she liked.

She looked at the clock on the wall in the den, the hands pointed out the time.  The hour hand pointed to the one and the minute hand pointed to the nine. 1:45 A.M…… I am not tired.

Bored with what she was watching, she changed it. As she flipped through the various channels, an item being presented on one of those home shopping channels caught her eye. It was a ring. A gorgeous one and a half carat solitaire with smaller diamond accents down the sides of the shank.

She slipped into a dream, leaving reality in the dust…

A man with short brown hair and blue eyes that drew her in as though they were magnets. It seemed those eyes had no end, as though they were a bottomless vortex. She stared into them and lost all track of time and her mood magically changed. Their power over her grew beyond words. She felt something about him was familiar. It came from deep inside her, as if from that part of herself that held the longing wish to have the void within filled, at last. A feeling of relief swept over her, as if the dreams were enough but she found her heart wanting more than these mere images…

There inside his eyes was another world waiting to be explored, to be known. She found herself falling into it and was powerless to resist. At that instant something in her changed and she knew that she could fall in love with him… hopelessly beyond any and all words and yet she felt nothing at the same time. Every time she looked into his eyes, she didn’t feel like herself.

She wondered what was wrong… Why did he feel so RIGHT and yet so WRONG? What was it about him that affected her so deeply?

         The dream continued…

This man sat across from her and looked deeply into her brown eyes.  He grew silent enjoying the feeling of  being captured by them. He felt himself floating on vast blue seas of twin oceans. As far as the eye could see there was nothing but crystal clear water reflecting the sunlight like mirrors and blinding him.

She looked at him then as a feeling of belonging in his arms came over her. He looked beautiful… more beautiful than anything she had previously laid eyes upon. But she noticed his eyes had a far away look in them. He looked so peaceful and content just to look upon her beauty. It infected her beyond anything else she had experienced and seemed to take up residence within her, deep inside the core of her being. No matter how hard she tried to deny it, avoid it or pretend she did not feel it, she couldn’t. If she did he could tell and something in him reacted to her refusal of this. The force his eyes exerted on her became more powerful. It was his eyes held their own gravitational force and drew her in deeper until she did not know who was who.

It was then that she became confused. Questions crossed her mind then… What is it about him that is so familiar to me? WHY and HOW does he affect me so? And who am I when I am with him? Why do I fall, so willingly into that world within his eyes?  It mystified her . She had no answers and no way to find any.

These questions never rested, nor did the dreams of him…
