The New House
Today, Yahoo mentioned the top ten breeds of dogs:

Labrador, yorkshire terrier, german shepherd, golden retriever, beagle, boxer, dachshund, poodle, shih tzu and bulldog.

Which is your favorite?

See my previous entry for the two polls I made: "Reigning cats and DOGS!

The new house

There are no ghosts here,
no one to keep me company.
When boards creak, no one to blame.
When the wind howls, it's just the wind.
And when you're gone, the house seem empty
and when you're here, emptier by far.

There are no memories to keep me here.
Walls recede and windows open
and I become invisible, weightless as a cipher,
waiting to become a ghost,
yet too alive for the death I feel inside
sneaking ever closer.

There are no ghosts here,
no one to greet me with their warmth.

POETRY:

Alfred moved me to check out englyn:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Englyn

I tried:

Will he forever remember his dame?
When time has dumbed him, will hands tremble
holding unto her hem? [164.471a]

Stressed rhymes on the 7th syllable: mem/trem/hem
Echo: 1:10th dame/ 2:4th dumbed
Alliteration: time/tremble; holding/hem
Note: trem is the 7th syllable of line 2 ble the 1st of line 3, but do I make it trem-ble on two lines or keep it as is?

IMAGES:

Bird tracks where the snow covers the bird seed; rabbit tracks; cat tracks; car and truck tracks; the tracings of melted snow-drops.

OVERHEARD:

A happy birthday refrain:

... may you live another hundred years,
may you drink another hundred beers ...

I need to send this to my friend Gare. His birthday isn't till autumn, but he won't be able to wait that long for another Coors Light!

ONE GOD:

My friend Charlotte Letkeman informs me that the Bahá'ís in the Niagara Region of Ontario (other communities as well, like in Rochester, NY) will be joining other faiths for World Religion Day in Niagara-on-the-Lake this coming 20th of January. She mentioned the "One God" video of Barbra Streisand. This is a link:

ME:

Wednesdays are half price burgers at Kelly's. This means that a 'cash' burger (two 6 ounce burgers on a bun) costs less than $4. I forgot to put the tomato and lettuce on it this time. Have a hard time getting my mouth around one as it is!

Thursday morning showed up bright and brisky (brisk+frisky). Snow. About 3 inches covering everything with fluff.

No liver-and-onions at Kelly's today; no unagi sushi at K.U. I'll just have to cook when I get home. *Frown* PB&J sandwich, anyone?

Actually, I can cook. I just choose not to mess up the kitchen if I'm only feeding myself.
