Clear as a Foggy Day
My eyes opened
As hers closed
And yet we could still see each other
Clear as day

I poured out my heart to her
While she bobbed her head to her latest mood
Drowning out my heart like the sidewalk when homies die
And yet, I knew she still got the message

I put on some new cologne
You know, some of that smell good stuff that attract more than bees
Had them girls buzzing all around
Wanting to know what the nectar was like
That day she had a cold
Couldn’t smell a fart in a stuffy closet
But I think she sensed it

I was told in the past I had a touch that could warm the soul
Too bad that day it was cold outside
But I think she still felt good by it

Usually I’m the knight in shining armor
Ready to rescue any damsel from distress
Too bad the day I saw her about to fall down the steps
I was no where near her to break her fall
But he was
Even still, she knew I wished it was me

So many days I wanted her to come to me
And ask her to buy her a meal
So I can get satisfaction in bringing this angel nourishment
Feeding angels is a first class ticket to heaven
Too bad the day the angel was starving
I was broke
I’m glad that other guy had it though
You know, the guy with the nice car
Rims, system
New clothes
Clean shoes
Yall know the type fellas
But she know I would have got her if I had it
All these things I wanted to do
All those things I tried
Nothing works
f*** it. I’m just gonna tell her
As if she didn’t already know

}Hey
Hey
I just wanted to let you know
I really like your swagger, your style
Your intellect and the way you profile
And I know we’ve known each other for a while
So introductions are not in order
But I really like you
And wish you were more like a lover

That’s sweet. I like you too but the timing is bad
If you had let me know before we could have seen what we would have had
But my man’s picking me up, your boy that bought me lunch
The one that kept me from falling
The one with the warm touch
I hope you find someone, I sorry I’m now taken
But the ways he has saved me
If I was an angel, he just got a first class ticket to heaven

My eyes opened
As hers closed
Why the hell did I think she could see me
Clear as day.
