Secure in the Shadows

Secure in the shadows,
My heart waits for you.
A fire of yearning,
A love that is true.

Secure in the shadows,
I whisper your name.
I dream of our meeting,
I call out in vain.

Secure in the shadows,
A life slowly fades.
A person lies dying,
Surrounded by shades.

Our time is a shadow,
We've only the now.
Our moments are fleeting,
Mere leaves on a bough.

Take nothing for granted,
And waste not your days.
Then out of the shadows,
Your life will send rays.

You'll be inspiration,
A bright shining guide.
The next generation,
Follows close by your side.

Secure in the shadows,
I ponder this thing.
And patiently wait,
What the future will bring.
