These Days
these days

so wow.

how'd that piece of empowerment
sneak its way into a bed of sadness?
sometimes i surprise myself
especially these days

these days
have been most different
than any others
in the course of my lifetime

these days i'm sad
these days i'm numb
these days i'm angry
these days i'm even content

i'm always something these days
and these days i'm always creating
poems, prose, music
it comes out everywhere

is it an outlet of grief?
a silver lining to tragedy?
a byproduct of the sun entering leo?
probably a combination

and thank the lord for it
if i hadn't been creating all this time
i may've been dead by now
(why tell lies?  poetry is truth)

creating pulled me through this
first few days, all i want is to play my violin
then sing and play piano
then write and paint

but back to these days, not those

these days, it's hard
these days, i'm strong
these days, i'm emotional
these days, i really do love myself
