Oh Dear Once Again
This morning I woke up;
Hardly an uncommon occurance.
But today something happened that was
Quite uncommon indeed.
My mother was sitting at the kitchen table.
"Good morning my Suzy,"
She sang in that annoying way of hers.
"Did'ja miss me while I was gone, love?"
Like she had been on a trip.
She wasn't on a trip.
"Um, hey, Mom," I said, groggy.
I was still half in the realm of sleep and dreams.
I reached into the fridge for the juice; it was gone.
"I gotta go," I muttered to my mother.
