Eternity
The snow falls in the cedars, drifting softly and silently, covering the ground,
It smothers all other sounds, drowns out nature in its silence, covers impurities easily,
The clouds hover above, waiting, anticipating, the full fury held back for now,
The woodland creatures burrow, hibernate, prepare themselves for the winter ahead.

She drifts through the silence, drifts through the falling snow, searching, looking,
She longs for the warmth and comfort she once knew, the love she once had,
She pulls her coat closer around her body, takes relief in the mild heat upon her skin,
She thinks about the love she lost, the love she seeks, the love she's sought for an eternity.

He moves in silent wonder through the snow-packed streets, through the quiet town,
His hands are warm inside his gloves, his hair and ears under a wool cap, safe and content,
He stops at the edge of the village and looks at the cedars, the woods so thick and pure,
He stares and sees the shape of a woman, familiar yet a stranger, moving against the tree line.

The snow continues to fall, the clouds continue to wait, the animals continue to sleep,
As the day grows darker, he moves closer, treading softly across the pure, untouched snow,
She walks carefully, dreaming of yesterdays long gone, of tomorrows unreachable,
The cedars stand stoic in the silence, stoic in the shadows, and stoic in the falling snow.

He touches her coat-clothed arm, reaching out to stop her progress, reaching out to help,
She turns and smiles, sad and unsure, and suddenly sets eyes on the nearby town, unnoticed,
He extends his hand, his smile gentle, sure; his gaze kind, she takes hold of his gloved hand,
She allows herself to be led to the warmth she thought she had lost so long ago, an eternity.

The Christmas Spirit moved in Cedar Walk, the village bordering the woods of cedars,
When a young man saw a hurt woman, saw a despairing soul, reached out and touched her,
Reached out and saved her, showed her the warmth of forgiveness, the warmth of Jesus,
To help a stranger without selfish desires, without personal ambitions, with only acceptance.
