Intelligence isn’t critical to creativity. Creativity is the difference between “convergent” and “divergent” thinking. Creative Characteristics Ideational fluency = how many sentence, ideas, or associations does a person think of when given a word. More is always better. Variety and flexibility = how many uses can you think of when presented with a object. The more the better off you are creatively. Originality = developing solutions other people can’t think of. Elaboration = the ability to create, expand on, and work ideas into concrete solutions. Problem sensitivity = see the central challenge and the difficulties associated with it. Redefinition = seeing known problems in a different light. The left side of the brain analyzes a poem, while the right side interprets the same poem. |
