The word "manna," I heard somewhere, means "what is it?" in Hebrew. I haven't verified that information. Not gonna try to look it up now, either. It's late Friday night or wee hours Saturday morning, depending on how technical you want to be. Not depending on how technical you want to be, I've now entered my 13th 24 hour round in the match between my decision and my cravings. Ding ding. It's time to change my patch. Joseph is gone now. Started back to Clarksville at around 6:30 EST. School starts on Monday. The English dept. held its now traditional "Toto Pulls the Curtain" luncheon today. I wore my red sequined slippers. That was not the highlight. One of the professors (one of the Dr. Craftons...hmmmm...should that have an apostrophe? There are two Dr. Craftons, one who would be a Mr. Crafton had he not the PhD, and one who would be a Mrs. Crafton had she not the PhD. The Dr. Crafton who would be Mr. was the speaker this afternoon.) He's been researching the Bayeu Tapestry, a colossal work of Medieval embroidery art that depicts the ascension to the English throne of William the Conqueror. I didn't even know that much about it before this afternoon, and our university has the only reproduction of this tapestry in North America. Just shows how much you can miss, even after spending so many years hanging around the place. I learned that little tidbit and then some. I wish there'd had been enough time for him to finish saying everything he'd prepared to say. Doesn't look like I'll have an opportunity to take one of his classes before graduating in the spring, either. Ah well. In just less than twenty years, I'll get to take classes at the university for free, if they don't change that policy by then. Of course, I'm sure that particular professor will have retired, but there will be more. I believe in planning ahead. J.H. Larrew ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
