Pitter-Patter
kids are so amazing.
my whole body aches, and my voice is shot from repeating every direction twenty times each, at least once for each of twelve third- and fourth-graders. i have a twenty-minute break right now, and this is how i'm using it because it's quiet, it requires no talking and i don't have to move my aching legs.
we're talking about metaphors, which they understand surprisingly well...or do they? grace just said, in her retainer-aided lisp, "feelings are like ripe fruit: you just can't stop them!"
she's starting a poem centered on that idea. she was so excited about it, i decided not to ask what property of ripe fruit makes it unstoppable.
