Weather where I am: 79º this morning and working up to storms.
Weather in Bismarck, North Dakota: 48º.
Weather in Dortmund: 79º and a tad warm!

What's nice about making sports predictions, is that I'm so bad at it. I do it only for fun. England already won as I predicted. Although, Ecuador beat Poland and I was quite wrong on that. Now it's close to 80º in Dortmund where Sweden will be taking on Trinidad. A tad warm for the Swedes I'd say ... but even with their goalie out they are that much better than the men from T and T.

Group E

Czech Republic (2), United States (5), Ghana (43), Italy (13)

The United States is legit, but the Czechs are capable of winning it all. Although the Italians can't be discounted they may suffer from expectations that they will always get to play in a World Cup. Not so the Ghanians. One of the African teams will break through.

Czechs win (game with Italy is irrelevant to them) and USA advances. Ghana gets an upset.

GROUP F

Brasil (1), Croatia (23), Japan (18), Australia (42)

Brasil advances, Australia licks wounds, and that leaves Croatia and Japan (toss a coin). Croatia team has been ill, so they may look poorly against Brasil.

GROUP G

France (8), Switzerland (35), South Korea (29), Togo (61).

The Togolese won Miss World Cup. That is the only point they will score. Unfortunately, any controversy can create havoc and they have had problems concerning money and coaching. The Swiss are young and hot. The French are great but some European team always lays an egg (Italy this year?).

I pick the Swiss to win and France to advance, but Korea is legit.

GROUP H

Spain (5), Tunisia (21), Saudi Arabia (34), Ukraine (41)

This is the most lopsided group. Spain (ESP) would have to have a total meltdown not to advance. Saudi Arabia (KSA) was embarrassed four years ago. Not this time. But Tunisia is better. Ukraine is just celebrating being there.

My pick for the Final 4: Germany, Netherlands, Brasil and Czech Republic. Oh ... and who to win it all? Brasil or Czech Republic.
