Gary's day

Yep. Think about one Gary, think about them all! Fortunately, I like them all. *Smirk*

Well, Gary Strong is a grampa again. Oliver Gary Strong was born this afternoon; I was there when they got the news. OG is 8 pounds 12 ounces and 19 inches long and has alot of red hair on his head. He joins his brother Finn Alexander (3yr.) and his parents Aimée and Cary (Gary and Eileen's son).

Cary actually has an acoount here at WDC, almost forgot that! I'll have to remind him to update his two items and maybe do an entry on his family. You can congratulate him at soapbox Author IconMail Icon

Oliver's a fiesta babe. Hoy es ¡Cinco de Mayo! So what he'll be nicknamed remains to be seen. I think Cinco or OG sound good myself!

I already was writing a poem for the event while sitting at his parent's coffeehouse. I used Stormy's prompts from her newsletter: mother, flower, childhood, imagine, first, sight, cloud, sun! See "Stormy's poetry newsletter & contestOpen in new Window. [ASR] and enter it yourself!

Cinco de Mayo's fiesta song

The flower that fertilized nine months ago
gives fruit today, Cinco de Mayo's
fiesta song.

Grey clouds that cover the sky this day
tomorrow gives way to sun, el Seis
de Mayo's sun.

First sight of his mother's second son
will thrill young Finn, Cinco de Mayo's
fiesta song.

His childhood will not be spent alone
again, he imagines his Cinco
de Mayo's gift.

Soon Oliver will join us outside
the womb, el Siete de Mayo
blossom's bloom.

This flower that fruits, a gift from Earth's
spring womb, bursts with Cinco de Mayo's
fiesta's song.

Visualize and they shall come

I was upset this morning. I did not agree to be a factory worker, nor did I agree to work under conditions that might set off my nerves. So, I've known I needed to speak with Arnell about some issues that came out of the Monday meeting she wasn't at. As I was about to leave, Arnell showed up. She'll contact Mary E. and hopefully, everything will move forward.

I also needed to arrange an appointment with Jeannette. I was at Aimée's Coffeehouse talking with Hubb when she walked in. We arranged an appointment for Tuesday (hopefully at La Prima Tazza; it's two for one). I explained to her that if nothing can be arranged in this town I should move, and suggested Emporia or Garnett.

Now that's twice today that people have shown up. So I'm trying to be careful with my thoughts! Wish Gary or Gary or Kev would call ... that's probably asking too much (or not enough) *Smile*.

SENSED

camera hidden under an awning *Bigsmile*; cheeps of birds; newly planted black-leafed sweet potatoes; holes in the knees of Zach's bluejeans; cool air; grey; yellow and grey lichen on an old blue canvas awning; sparse green of the lucust; luxuriant green of the pear; scent of rose geranium on my fingers; an abandoned hive exposed where an awning has been removed.

Dreamers

Some of us are dreamers. we dream when we are young; we dream as we grow old. It's what we do when we have spare moments, ot even when we don't! I am a dreamer. Day dreamer mostly. Nights are more difficult for me. I always think there is a better way or imagine myself in a better place, physically, mentally, emotionally. I can envision the destination but not the way there.

Are you a dreamer? This question arises from an entry by windac, "Invalid EntryOpen in new Window., in her blog "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. who was responding to David McClain Author Icon, "Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. from his blog "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. . Both are worth a look-see. And leave a comment ... We are inspired by each other here at WDC.

Added late

Gave copy of poem to Eileen and Gary to take to Aimée and Cary. OG should be home in two days.

Celeste mentioned that I should translate it into Spanish. So I started, but I'll have to choose words wisely. There's a syllable count to the English version and that won't translate, and some words will just have to be replaced. I'd rather capture a melody, a repetition of some sort and the basic concept than a one-to-one translation.
