What Happens In Vegas Stays...In My Journal

Just returned from a long weekend in Vegas to celebrate my cousin's 21st birthday...oh to be young again!

My flights out there were a little intense as my first flight was headed to an airport in the middle of a blizzard. I love to fly, but when you hear of planes sliding off the runway, it tends to put a little fear in you! Needless to say my time on the plane was extended a tad, but I still made it safely so I can't complain too much.

All in all my stay out there was pretty good. I was able to spend a lot of time bonding with my family, which I don't get to see very often as they live out of state. I also met my cousin's boyfriend for the first time. He is very nice, funny and fits with her and the family very well. Just one problem...he has a fear of commitment. They get along great and both love one another, that is obvious, so it is hard to figure out why he cannot take the next step. I completely understand her frustration because it would be so hard to end something so good, but if it is going to remain as "just dating" forever, that won't satisfy her needs. I feel for ya Cuz...whatever the outcome, I'm here to support ya!!!

I had a long talk with one of my aunt's, which I think she needed to get out and it helped me understand more of the reasons behind some family members whackiness!! I did also see the true colors of one of my aunt's as well. I believe they have always been there but I looked at them with rose colored glasses, which I must have left at home this trip. Either that or with age I am learning to quit putting up with crap or making excuses/exceptions for others. Wow, am I turning into a BITCH in my old age?!

Whatever the case may be, I truly enjoyed my trip and getting to know my family members even better and hope they feel the same connection with me that I do with them!! Until our next trip, keep watch for the "Elmo's!!"
