Online journal capturing the moment and the memory of moments. A meadow meditation. |
2005-11-22 sunset, 52 degrees. Jamestown, NY? 25 and snow. Talked to my mother today. She's going to my sister's for Thanksgiving. Made the sweet potatoes already. Heavy snow is in the forecast, so plans are always dicey. Well, doc said I need a heart-stress test (December 1st). She gave me some antibiotics for my abscessed teeth. I weigh too much, but let's not discuss that! Satchel weighed 7.8 pounds. If I keep it under 10 that should help my shortness of breath. Read two books of poetry by Maxine Kumin. She's awesome. Also read a few of the odes of W S Merwin. I particularly liked 'To the mistakes'. Sometimes mundane matters: I put air in my front right tire. Or disappoints: my appt with my prof was cancelled. Or becomes a backdrop, a stage on which the dramas are played: as long as it is sunny, my depression is held at bay. SCRIBBLED TODAY: Squirrel squats up on the branch, sketching out the melody, teeth gnaw the walnut, splintering fruit of the tree some chancellor planted a century ago. In her lonesome scrape and scratch, I think I hear my alma mater song. © Kåre Enga, catalogue number: [162.559] |
