This form is also a Sanskrit form. Gayatri is a mantra containing 24 syllables, divided over 3 pada. (feet/line) You can find a lot of information when you click on the source about the Tripada Gayatri, the history of this mantra is interesting. Click the source link for more information. As the Gayatri is a mantra which is holding divine power, a maha mantra. The divine power is usually expressed through the sound and tone of the mantra. It has to open the heart of the singer in order to be effective. My humble example: Spirit of the Sun, light my heart as I walk on life’s bumpy road so I can fulfil my mission. Spirit of the Moon, light my heart guide me through the darkness, called night so I can fulfil my mission. Spirit of the winds, ease my heart don’t let me struggle against you I have to fulfil my mission. (I wrote three stanzas in this form, but the mantra usually contains one stanza.)
